Fujino, Japan

A hand-sewn summer kimono, or yukata, screen printed using the traditional katazome technique. The artwork was hand-carved on tanned paper, crafted into a stencil, then used to print fabric with a rice flour resist paste. The fabric was then dyed using natural indigo grown in Fujino, Japan.
